So, Here is the list of bikes I have either owned, or currently own. I’ve added a brief explanation for each. For the full story, please follow the link.
1984 GS125
Summary: I bought this bike from a fellow biker as an abandoned restoration. I’ve since rebuilt it, but still needs a clutch and a better carb, as the one on it is a £30 eBay job, and doesn’t respond to being tuned. It also needs repainting (when weather permits) The bike doesn’t owe me anything, as I haven’t spent anything on it yet, barring rear footrests.
Fate: Still in my ownership – Running, needs work
1989 GSX750F
Summary: I’ve owned this bike since 2016, it was refurbished into a running condition late 2016, but was subsequently stolen in January 2017. It was recovered a week or so later in a poor condition and is currently undergoing a full ‘back to factory’ restore.
Fate: Still in my ownership – Currently under restoration/refurbishment
1990 GSX750F
Summary: I bought this bike from a member of the Facebook GSXF page. It was cheap but needed some work, so I rebuilt it, and put an MOT on it before selling it on. It rode really well when I sold it, the only let down on it was the paintwork, which I never got round to doing.
Fate: Sold
2000 TT600
Summary: I bought this bike March 2017 – A great 600, but as with all Triumph 4 pot 600s of the time, it came with really crappy throttle response. I remapped it, replaced a few bits and pieces, and then eventually Part Exchanged it with a friend who was having problems with her Daytona 600. It was stolen from outside her house, and sadly, was written off by the insurance company.
Fate: Sold, then written off by thieving scum
2003 Daytona 600
Summary: Taken in a Deal for my TT600. This bike came to me with a few problems, including the Triumph crappy throttle, although it wasn’t as bad as the TT, it’s still hesitant on pull away under 3k revs even with a more suitable fuel map. More work required on this.
Fate: Still in my ownership – Needs a better fuel map
2004 GSXR 1000 K4
Summary: Bought this amazingly well kept example from a friend who has decided that Sports Tourers are now more appropriate so that his wife can pillion – He’s invested in a Z1000SX and let me have the GSXR at a great price
Fate: Still in my ownership – Waiting for Summer!
2006 ER5 C5P
Summary: Bought this bike from friends in 2016 who are bike instructors, it’s an ex-school bike that had low miles, and was idle for me to commute on. A great little bike that’s done me proud.
Fate: Still in my ownership – Used as a commuter.
2009 ZX10R E8F
Summary: This was my dream bike. Wanted one since I first saw one, and when I got a bonus from work it was mine. Ran it for a season, it was an absolute animal, an ASBO on wheels, and I loved every minute of it. Sadly, a house purchase meant I needed the money towards a deposit, so I had to sell it on. May have to invest in another one in the future.
Fate: Sold – Exported to Poland.
